Therapy for Creatives in New York

Supporting creatives and performers through therapy, groups, and workshops with a focus on burnout, perfectionism, anxiety, and building sustainable careers.

Therapy for artists, creatives, and performers navigating the intersection of creativity and mental health

Empowering artists, students, and the communities that support them.

Hi! I’m Alyssa

I’m a performer and therapist based in New York City. I work primarily with creatives, artists, and performers providing individual therapy and groups focused on anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, imposter syndrome, and other issues creatives often face. My work as a performer gives me firsthand insight into the unique joys, uncertainty, and pressures of a creative career. In addition to individual therapy, I offer workshops, trainings, and ongoing consultation for programs and theatre companies committed to supporting mental and emotional well-being.

Services I Offer

Affirming therapy for creatives and anyone seeking support, resilience, and change in a supportive environment

Whether you're navigating burnout, anxiety, or the emotional weight of your craft, therapy can help you reconnect with yourself and your artistry. My approach is values-driven and tailored to your unique needs. It’s grounded in deep clinical expertise and a personal understanding of the creative life.

A space to breathe, create, and connect as part of a community

I offer small, facilitated groups that center creativity, reflection, and community in a low-stakes, supportive environment. These groups are designed for creatives seeking connection, grounding, and space to create without pressure, productivity, or performance.

Interactive workshops that support the mental health of artists, educators, and creative communities

My workshops for actors and students help foster emotional resilience and provide practical mental health skills that help them build sustainable, fulfilling creative lives. My workshops for faculty and creative staff equip those in leadership roles with tools for creating psychologically safe spaces and supporting actors in a holistic way.

Ongoing support for theatre programs and companies committed to integrating wellness into their mission

I offer ongoing consultation on mental health strategy, rehearsal process support, and how to care for your community through challenging material or high-demand seasons. My goal is to help you create safer, more sustainable environments where artists and educators can thrive creatively and emotionally.

My Approach

In my work, I combine evidence-based approaches like acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based practices with a deep understanding of the creative process and what it means to be an artist in a difficult world.

In my clinical work, I use a person-centered approach, centering the client and their lived experiences. In sessions, I balance compassion, warmth, and humor with practical tools, insight, and structure.

In my workshops and consulting, I bring the same individualization, care, and expertise to helping artists, creative teams, and institutions develop lasting strategies to promote resilience and well-being

Testimonials

  • I had the pleasure of attending Alyssa's workshop for creatives a couple of years ago, and I find myself still thinking about the lessons I learned there. I gained a lot from Alyssa's combination of kindness, gentleness, and firm action plans to help us move towards what we wanted as artists and humans. Alyssa did an excellent job walking a difficult line of both reducing the shame we might feel about not being where we wanted to be, while also giving us tangible and actionable ways of getting where we wanted to be. I have recommended Alyssa as a therapist and clinician to anyone who was looking for support, and will continue to.

  • Creative Flow was wonderful as it gave me a structured hour and start of each week to prioritize my self care along side other folks who were there for the same reason! I especially enjoyed the group's mindfulness component.
